U.S. Senate: I don't have a clue
If you thought government was really screwed up, just wait until you read George Packer's Aug. 8th article in the New Yorker . After reading, think to yourself why anyone in their right mind would support such a political system. Most likely, you'll come to the conclusion that you don't have a clue as to why grown adult, sentient beings clamor and beg to be led by such idiots.
Former senate majority Tom Daschle sums up a typical vote for a senator:
"Daschle sketched a portrait of the contemporary senator who is too busy to think: “Sometimes, you’re dialling for dollars, you get the call, you’ve got to get over to vote, you’ve got fifteen minutes. You don’t have a clue what’s on the floor, your staff is whispering in your ears, you’re running onto the floor, then you check with your leader—you double check—but, just to make triple sure, there’s a little sheet of paper on the clerk’s table: The leader recommends an aye vote, or a no vote. So you’ve got all these checks just to make sure you don’t screw up, but even then you screw up sometimes. But, if you’re ever pressed, ‘Why did you vote that way?’—you just walk out thinking, Oh, my God, I hope nobody asks, because I don’t have a clue.”"
I like the "check with your leader" comment; can't go against the Party, no way, no how. And when people are skeptical that a small, select group of people control the USSA, point out to them that one person can pretty much control the majority of the U.S. Senate. Three more people and you've got the legislative branch locked up.
These are the people who rule you and this is all they have to say about their voting records:
