Put Up Critical Yard Sign, Get Arrested

It appears that no small town in Amerkia is safe from power hungry mini-tyrants.

Jarrod West was arrested for putting up a yard sign that was critical of City Administrator Joe Pile.  Due to repeated flooding issues that West felt weren't being addressed by the city, he put up a sign that said,

"Dear Valley Center, I did not buy Lake Front Property! Fix this problem. This is what I pay taxes for. PS. Joel this means you!"

Silly Jarrod; he has some misguided belief that the taxes he is forced to pay upon threat of imprisonment would actually be used for his benefit.  It turns out those dollars were used to fund the men in costumes with guns, who came and imprisoned him for putting up A FREAKING SIGN in his OWN FREAKING YARD!!!  The charge?  "Criminal Defamation"

Public parasite Joe Pile makes a lame attempt to defend himself (and the 1st Amendment), with a statement so stupid, it could only have come from a supposed 'servant' of the people:

"People and individuals have an absolute right to free speech," said Pile. "But however, when they do it and continue to do it within the realms of what we believe is actual malice for the purpose of holding me accountable to the public we believe that crosses a line." (emphasis mine)

If that wasn't enough to show how anti-freedom, anti-liberty and pro-tyranny Pile is, get a load of how he uses his cronies in city court to silence his critics:

"Pile says the city will drop the charges against West if he stops blaming Pile for the flooding issues on his property."

Sure, Pile may not be personally responsible, but Jarrod West has every right to believe and say whatever he wants.  Would Mr. West have been arrested if he'd blamed God?  The weather?  Mother Teresa?  Here's the lesson for all you poor souls who actually have to live in Valley City, and are ruled by people like Joe Pile:  Don't criticize your rulers.  Shut up or else.  Don't speak ill of your dear leaders.  If you do, we'll make an example out of you.

Hopefully the people of Valley City have enough sense to support Mr. West (even the ACLU does), who is considering a civil liberties case.  The least we can do is spread the word that Amerika is quickly becoming a police state run by bureaucratic dictators.  As Jarrod West found out, the state hates criticism and an informed populace.  Let's give them a healthy dose of both.
